Academic Reading and Writing

This is an advanced level course for students who are preparing to go to college. The course prepares students to succeed in college by offering direct instruction on study skills, research skills using the library and the Internet, writing college essays and research papers and developing comprehension and analysis skills using college level texts. Students are introduced to college level vocabulary, and subject areas including, sociology, psychology, biology and history through readings, lectures and discussions. Developing advanced computer skills is another component of this course.
