Speaking and Listening

This course is designed to increase ESOL students’ abilities and confidence as they interact with English speakers. While the curriculum integrates reading comprehension, the mechanics of grammar structure, and the development of intermediate level writing skills, there is a focus on developing listening comprehension, speaking and pronunciation abilities.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

ESOL classes are also offered through the Harvard Extension School's Institute for English Language Programs.

Workplace Literacy (Survival English)

This course is designed to prepare people who do not yet use English to perform job and life tasks successfully. Classes focus on the students' need to find information, make themselves understood in speech and writing, and become familiar with behaviors expected in a variety of work and social situations in America.

Integrated Skills

These classes address the integrated development of the four major communicative skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - by using designated texts and instruction that prepare students to use English in academic and social contexts. Four levels are available to meet the needs of students at various stages of learning.
